Tickets for Queen musical on sale Saturday

Yomiuri We Will Rock You, London’s hit musical by Queen and scriptwriter Ben Elton is to land in Japan for a series of Tokyo performances.

Tickets for the 103 performances scheduled from May 27 through Aug. 24 at Shinjuku Koma Theater in Shinjuku, Tokyo, go on sale Saturday at the theater and other ticket outlets.

Featuring such Queen hits as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We are the Champions,” “Killer Queen” and “Radio Ga Ga,” We Will Rock You, set in 2046 when making music has been banned and young people are controlled by a corporate giant, is about rebels in search of pure rock music and the freeing of the world.

The spectacular fantasy is a collaboration between Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor, who are responsible for the music, Elton and designers Mark Fisher and Willie Williams, whose works are familiar at major rock concerts.

The musical, which premiered in London’s West End in May 2002, has attracted 3 million people. It marked its 1,000th performance on Jan. 12.
