XX-XX-1996 – Queen: The Eye PC Game
QUEEN THE EYE
The first action adventure computer game of it’s kind inspired by the music and imagery of Queen. The PC CD ROM game will be released worldwide from September ’97 onwards and combines cutting edge technology with over 100 minutes of Queen music, as it has never been heard before, creating an action adventure unlike anything ever seen.
Introduction
The Queen Game is set in the not too distant future when the economic markets of the world have collapsed into a brutal global recession. In this post apocalyptic vision, where the physical real and computer generated have merged, the last surviving remnants of urban society are governed by a vast Network. This piece of self-replicating bio-technology is known as the ‘EYE’.
Game Story Line
Although it had mastered near total control of a servile population, the ‘EYE’ was still unsatisfied. It wanted to ensure that the very roots of creative thought and action were burnt from the memory of humanity. The ‘EYE’ began to patrol it’s own bio-network to try and remove from it any semblance of freedom of thought and creativity.
It was on just such an exploration that the ‘EYE’ encountered a strange resonance. A resonance coming from some archives; a resonance powerful and creative and yet hidden from access. The ‘EYE’ wanted this almost tangibly, with a desire it had never known. It gained access to these areas and realised it’s worst fears – that the creativity it had so long feared and sought to cleanse, was embodied by music.
So powerful were these images that the ‘EYE’ realised it could not destroy them in one go. It sealed the archives and created a character to stalk and purge them. This character never had a name, but soon became know in these alternative domains as ‘Death on Two Legs’.
Decades later the ‘EYE’ had established a global network which it controlled through the use of special patrol agents known as controllers. These highly trained specialists would hunt out and eradicate images and notions which were deemed dangerous to the State’s ideology. This process was know as ‘bleaching’.
Agent Dubroc was one of the agents who patrolled the network. His credo was one with that of the state. Those who disobeyed would be punished.
Unfortunately for Dubroc, he discovered the musical archives. As he sat watching and listening to the archives, the truth of the state he worked for slowly began to dawn on him. Before he could explore further, the arm of ‘Death on Two Legs’ clawed out at him from the holo-display quickly dissolving back into light. At that instant security guards burst in, dragged Dubroc away for interrogation and sentence him to the gladiatorial ‘Arena’. Dubroc was branded a state traitor.
It is at this point that the player takes the part of Dubroc.
The Game Itself
After the Arena there are four major domains through which the player will travel to eventually defeat the ‘EYE’. The domains are the Works, Theatre, Innuendo and Final Domain. The environments of the first three take on the visual imagery and iconography associated with key Queen albums. Each domain has secrets, cerebral puzzles and physical dangers which will test, harass and thwart the player. Each of the domains has been inspired by the musical iconography and imagery of the band Queen and the band’s music provides a rich audio landscape for the player enhancing the gaming experience.
Central to the game is the relationship between Dubroc and his superior, the female controller Kazan. It is Kazan who discovers Dubroc accessing the archives and it is Kazan who will become integral to his fate within the domains. Whether she becomes his nemesis or not will depend on the skill of the player. If this in itself is not enough, the player is also stalked throughout by the creature ‘Death on Two Legs’.
This product is designed to intoxicate the eyes, ears and mind of the player. It will offer a richness and depth of visual material hitherto unseen, layered throughout with Queen’s music and sealed off with an inventive and original gaming experience.
