12-22-1975 – The Daily Gleaner – Queen Hit The Top

QUEEN HIT THE TOP: After reaching the No. 2 spot with their single “Killer Queen,” a year ago, pop group Queen have finally made it to the top of the British charts. Their No. 1 chartbuster is a marathon, double-length single called “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The four bachelor boys who go to make up Queen are unusual in that they all hold university degrees. Lead guitarist Brian May graduated in astronomy, drummer Roger Taylor in biology, bass player John Deacon in electrical engineering and lead singer Freddie Mercury in fine arts. The group have spent a year touring and had their biggest success in Japan where the fans really went overboard for them.
