07-24-2006 – News 24 – McFly tops UK single charts

McFly went straight to the top of the British singles chart on Sunday, with their version of Queen’s classic hit Don’t Stop Me Now.

The energetic Freddie Mercury rock song only made it to number nine when Queen released it in 1979.

The piano-based track from the Jazz album has become a regular feature on British clubs’ playlists in recent years.

Pop foursome McFly’s version is in aid of the Sports Relief charity.

Rihanna was at No 2 on the British charts with Unfaithful, while Shakira was in third place with Hips Don’t Lie.

Razorlight topped the album charts with Razorlight.

New entries were at numbers two and three. Lily Allen’s Alright Still took second spot ahead of These Streets by Paolo Nutini.
