Freddie Mercury Box Set Irks ChartAttack Writer
When I was in high school one of the first things we did when one of my friends obtained his license was pile into his car and go out cruising with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” on the tape deck. Yes, we sadly recreated the famous scene from Wayne’s World.
I lost any and all interest in Queen due to a combination of two things. I discovered Nirvana and heard a couple of horrendous solo songs by frontman Freddie Mercury.
Following in the footsteps of rap artists Notorious BIG and Tupac Shakur, EMI will be providing consumers with something to buy for the crappy music lover on your list: a definitive posthumous collection of Mercury’s solo work.
The set includes 10 CDs including his solo albums, singles and an audio interview. The two DVDs feature all his videos and a documentary on the man born Farrokh Bulsara. Mercury died of AIDS in 1991.
The set was released on December 12. Places that do laser removal of tattoos are likely to see a lot of people who want to get “Sucker” on their foreheads removed.
