ALEX Kapranos has revealed a dark secret that inspired Franz Ferdinand’s new album – his deep love for pomp rockers Queen.

The immaculatelydressed Scotsman, above, confesses to being a Freddie Mercury obsessive – and he likes the rest of the band too.

Alex, 33, said: “I’ve loved Queen ever since I was young.

“I think there’s a Queen influence on the new record – especially their rhythm section.

“Roger Taylor and John Deacon were masterful. The bass line to Another One Bites The Dust is brilliant.

“I think Freddie Mercury is the ultimate showman. He really inspires me when I perform.”
