09-XX-1998 – Electric Fire – Kerrang

THE FOURTH solo album from Queen drummer Roger Taylor is an eclectic affair which should please both Queen fans and those with a taste for slightly more left-field sounds.
Taylor has managed to brew up some intoxicating songs on ‘Electric Fire’. ‘Pressure On’, for instance, is a tense experiment in atmospherics which contrasts nicely with the heavy guitars in ‘A Nation Of Haircuts’.
Some of what’s on offer is perhaps too ambitious, but the John Lennon-tinged ‘People On Streets’ works wonders and closing track ‘London Town, C’mon Down’ provides a bizarre, claustrophobic finale.
Interesting stuff, for those with patience.
